Overview: The Annual Sports and Cultural Meet, held on March 11 and March 19, 2024, was a grand event that united students in a display of both athletic prowess and artistic talent. The event was marked by its vibrant energy and the spirit of healthy competition.
Sports Meet Highlights:
- Torch Rally: The day commenced with a symbolic torch rally, signifying the start of the sports events and fostering a sense of unity and enthusiasm among participants.
- Competitive Events:
- Sports: The meet featured a diverse range of sports including carom, badminton, skipping rope, sepak takraw, and various races such as the 100m, 500m, and marathon. Other events included football, kabaddi, discus throw, high-jump, long-jump, blind-hitting, and cock-fighting.
- Categories: Competitions were categorized into sub-junior, junior, and senior levels to accommodate different age groups and skill levels.
- Purpose: The sports meet aimed to encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
Cultural Meet Highlights:
- Performances: On March 19, students showcased their artistic talents in a series of performances including song, recitation, dance, and quiz programs.
- Celebration: The cultural meet celebrated the creativity and enthusiasm of the students, offering a platform for them to express themselves and appreciate various forms of art.
Youth Leadership Training Programme
Details:
- Date: June 20, 2019
- Location: Training Hall, URDS, Heirok
- Participants: 40 selected youths and students from Heirok and surrounding areas including Wangjing, Salungpham, Langathel, Kairembikhok, Ukhongsang, Langmeithet, Nongpok Sekmai, Lamding, and Sangaiyumpham.
- Topics Covered:
- Leadership Definitions and Decision-Making: Understanding what defines leadership and the decision-making process.
- Types of Decisions and Management: Exploring different types of decisions and how they impact management.
- Leadership Styles: Learning about various leadership styles and their effectiveness.
- Leadership and Power: Examining the relationship between leadership and power.
- Gender and Leadership: Discussing the role of gender in leadership and its implications.
- Team vs. Group Dynamics: Differentiating between team dynamics and group dynamics.
- Trainers: Four resource persons conducted in-depth sessions on these topics, providing valuable insights and practical knowledge.
Objective: To equip youths with essential leadership skills, enhance their decision-making abilities, and prepare them for future leadership roles.
Agricultural and Horticultural Development Programme

- Farmers’ Training Programme: Training sessions focused on modern techniques and technologies in agriculture and horticulture.
- Distribution of Seeds and Nursery Plants: Providing farmers with essential resources to improve their agricultural practices.
- Focus Areas: Techniques and technologies to enhance productivity in agriculture and horticulture.
- Distribution: Ginger seeds, peas, potato seeds, and nursery plants (banana, lemon, mango) were distributed to 45 farmers at no cost.
Objective: To support local farmers by improving their knowledge and providing resources for better agricultural practices.
Skill Development Programme

- Location: URDS Training Hall
- Participants: 20 carpenters
- Objective: To upgrade skills in furniture making, providing carpenters with advanced techniques and knowledge to enhance their craftsmanship.
Purpose: To improve the quality of work among carpenters and support their professional growth.
Bal Shiksha Diwas
Overview: The “Bal Shiksha Diwas” programmes were conducted throughout the year 2018-2019 to support educational development and provide essential resources to students. These events were sponsored by prominent corporations and aimed to promote educational resources and support.
Programmes Conducted:
17th May 2018:
- Location: Advance Learner School, Heirok Heituppokpi, P.O. Wangjing, Thoubal District, Manipur
- Sponsor: Oil India Limited
- Activities: Lectures on the roles and responsibilities of Oil India Limited, distribution of school materials and clothing to students and their families.
18th May 2018:
- Location: Advance Learner School, Heirok Heituppokpi, P.O. Wangjing, Thoubal District, Manipur
- Sponsors: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Indian Oil Corporation Limited
- Activities: Lectures on the roles of sponsors, distribution of school-related materials including school bags, books, geometry boxes, stationery items, school uniforms, umbrellas, lunch boxes, and water bottles.
Objective: To support educational development by providing resources and promoting awareness about the roles of sponsoring organizations.
Additional Programmes
Free Healthcare Camp for School Children: Providing free medical check-ups and healthcare services to school children to ensure their well-being and address health concerns.
4 Days Workshop on NREGS: A workshop designed to educate participants about the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), focusing on its benefits and implementation.
Disabilities Training: Training sessions on T.V., Mobile, Tailoring, and Handicrafts to support individuals with disabilities by enhancing their skills and improving their quality of life.
Consumers Awareness Program: Raising awareness among consumers about their rights and responsibilities, and providing information on consumer protection.
5 Days Post Harvesting Technology Program: A program focused on advanced techniques and technologies for post-harvest processing to reduce losses and improve the quality of agricultural products.
Road Safety Awareness Program: Educating the community about road safety measures to reduce accidents and promote safe driving practices.
HIV/AIDS Awareness for School Children: Educational programs aimed at increasing awareness about HIV/AIDS among school children, promoting preventive measures, and reducing stigma.
5 Days Workshop on Traditional Cultures: Exploring and preserving traditional cultures through workshops that engage participants in cultural practices and heritage.
Yoga & Naturopathy Clinics: Offering clinics and sessions on yoga and naturopathy to promote holistic health and wellness.
Poultry and Piggery Farming: Training and support for individuals interested in poultry and piggery farming, focusing on best practices and techniques for successful farming.
Agri and Horticulture Farming: Programs aimed at enhancing skills and knowledge in agriculture and horticulture to support local farming communities.
