Overview

The Senior Citizens’ Home—previously known as the Old Aged Home—is a vital facility operated by the United Rural Development Service (URDS) and situated at Heirok-Heituppokpi, Thoubal District, Manipur. Established to support destitute elderly individuals, the home accommodates 25 residents from various rural villages. This initiative is financially supported by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi, reflecting a commitment to providing essential care and support for the elderly population in the region.

Services Provided

1. Accommodation and Care:

  • Food and Lodging: Residents receive free, nutritious meals and comfortable lodging. The facility is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where basic needs are met.
  • Medicines and Health Care: The home ensures that all residents have access to necessary medications. Regular health check-ups are conducted to monitor the overall health and well-being of the elderly individuals.

2. Daily Amenities:

  • Daily Newspapers and Journals: To keep residents informed and engaged with current events, the facility provides daily newspapers, journals, and magazines.
  • Educational Materials: In support of adult literacy, the home supplies slates, chalks, pencils, exercise books, and primary books. This initiative aims to keep the residents intellectually stimulated and engaged.
