Our Commitment to Excellence in Residential Schooling for Scheduled Tribe Children

Overview

The Advance Learner School (Residential), operated by the United Rural Development Service (URDS) in Heirok, Manipur, has been dedicated to providing education and care for Scheduled Tribe children since its establishment in 2000. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, aims to uplift children from economically backward villages in remote, hilly areas. The school offers comprehensive support to ensure that these children have the opportunities they need to succeed academically and personally.

Facilities and Support

  • Education and Boarding: The school provides free lodging, food, uniforms, textbooks, and stationery. Students also benefit from cultural and sports facilities.
  • Health and Nutrition: Regular health check-ups are conducted by a nurse and support staff. The school provides structured meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as two snacks each day.
  • Staff: The school is supported by a dedicated team of 23 teaching and non-teaching staff members.
  • Recognition: Recognized by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, the school is authorized to offer education up to Class X.

 

Educational Excursions and Activities

  • Annual Educational/Internal Excursion: The school organizes educational trips to significant locations. The most recent excursion was on June 20, 2023, visiting landmarks such as Khongjom War Memorial, State Museum, Kangla Fort, Science Centre, and Botanical Garden.
  • Co-Curricular Activities: The school emphasizes co-curricular activities including an Annual Sports Meet in March, painting competitions, and a Teachers’ Day cum Prize Distribution Celebration in September. Computer classes are also provided to students from Class VI to X.

  • Uniforms and Supplies: Students receive three sets of uniforms and are provided with necessary textbooks and stationery.
  • Annual Events:
    • Painting Competition: Held on May 1st, featuring junior and senior sections competing in various categories.
    • Quiz Competition: Conducted on August 15th to celebrate Independence Day.
    • Sports & Cultural Meet: Conducted from March 5th to 7th, showcasing various sports and cultural events.
    • Teachers’ Day: Celebrated on September 5th with performances and distribution of prizes.
